LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Safe Homes of Orange County upon the
occasion of its designation by the Orange County Human Rights Commission
as the recipient of a 2012 Human Rights Award on April 26, 2012

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of organizations
and individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend Safe Homes of Orange County upon the occasion of its designation
by the Orange County Human Rights Commission as the recipient of a 2012
Human Rights Award; and
WHEREAS, Safe Homes of Orange County will be honored at the Commis-
sion's 17th Annual Awards Dinner, to be held at The Fountains in Middle-
town, New York on Thursday, April 26, 2012; and
WHEREAS, The Orange County Human Rights Commission was established in
1970 to serve the citizens of Orange County; its primary objectives
include the fostering of mutual respect and understanding among all
racial, religious and ethnic groups in the County; and
WHEREAS, Each year at its Annual Awards Dinner the Orange County Human
Rights Commission proudly honors those who support and help to further
its objectives of mutual respect and understanding among all citizens of
the County; and
WHEREAS, Safe Homes of Orange County truly merits this high honor for
its dedication to eliminating domestic violence in Orange County and to
providing services to affected individuals and families; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
applaud the Orange County Human Rights Commission for its efforts to
foster understanding and pride of community and to commend Safe Homes of
Orange County upon the occasion of its designation as the recipient of a
2012 Human Rights Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Safe Homes of Orange County.
