LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the City of White Plains Police
Department/Department of Public Safety upon the occasion of its desig-
nation for special recognition by Grace Church Community Center on May
10, 2012

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the long-
standing efforts of those agencies in the State of New York which dili-
gently contribute to the efficient operation of our criminal justice
system; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the City of White Plains Police Department/Department of Public Safety
upon the occasion of its designation for special recognition by Grace
Church Community Center, to be celebrated at its Oasis of Hope Cocktail
Reception on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the Ritz-Carlton Westchester in
White Plains, New York; and
WHEREAS, The City of White Plains Police Department/Department of
Public Safety has worked closely with Grace Church Community Center to
ensure that homeless individuals are brought to its shelters rather than
being incarcerated for violations such as sleeping at the train station
or in parking garages; and
WHEREAS, The quality of life in New York State is largely reflective
of the commitment and dedication demonstrated by members of the agencies
which serve to protect, preserve and maintain public order; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who devote their life's work and
purpose to public service, contributing to the care and welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, The tradition of altruistic public service, heroism and lead-
ership embodied by the City of White Plains Police Department/Department
of Public Safety is of such magnitude as to be worthy of special, state-
wide recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the City of White Plains Police Department/Department of Public
Safety upon the occasion of its designation for special recognition by
Grace Church Community Center on May 10, 2012; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the City of White Plains Police Department/Department of
Public Safety.
