LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Kiwanis
Ice Arena on February 5, 2011

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those organ-
izations which faithfully devote their purposeful energies to fostering
opportunities for and to contributing to the quality of life for the
youth of the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the 10th
Anniversary of the Kiwanis Ice Arena to be celebrated at its 10 Year
Anniversary at the Kiwanis Ice Arena in Saugerties, New York, on Satur-
day, February 5, 2011; and
WHEREAS, To honor this auspicious event, the celebration will include
festivities throughout the day, such as games, raffles, prizes,
balloons, and a bouncy bounce for the children; skate sessions will also
be open to the public; this wonderful celebration will conclude with a
spectacular fireworks display; and
WHEREAS, The Kiwanis Ice Arena, located in the Cantine Memorial
Complex, has served the interests of the people of the Empire State by
providing the Town of Saugerties with an Olympic size refrigerated ice
rink; and
WHEREAS, The Kiwanis Ice Arena is an ice arena that operates from
August to April, offering ice skating lessons, public skating, skate
rentals, hockey games with heated elevated spectator seating, and birth-
day parties; and
WHEREAS, During its off season, the Kiwanis Ice Arena is also avail-
able for off ice events, such as flea markets, fundraisers, parties and
camps; the building includes fully equipped locker rooms, a party room,
an off ice training room, a full concession stand, and a pro shop; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those organ-
izations which enhance the quality of life in their community and have
shown a long and sustained commitment to the maintenance of high stand-
ards in their mission, certainly have earned the recognition and
applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Kiwanis Ice Arena on February 5,
2011; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Kiwanis Ice Arena, Saugerties, New York.
