LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Finger
Lakes Section of The Professional Photographers' Society of New York
State

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality and
character of life in this great Empire State is indelibly enriched by
the faithful and untiring efforts of those individuals who have helped
shape the history of photography in their area; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Finger Lakes Section of The
Professional Photographers' Society of New York State, celebrated on
Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Abigail's Restaurant in Waterloo, New
York; and
WHEREAS, The Professional Photographers' Society of New York State
(PPSNYS) is a non-profit 501C-3 organization which was formed solely to
instruct its members and the public in photography and to create,
foster, promote and encourage the exchange of knowledge among its
members and the public; and
WHEREAS, Originally named the Geneva Section, the Finger Lakes Section
of The Professional Photographers' Society of New York State was founded
in 1911, and is one of 10 sections which meet monthly throughout the
State; and
WHEREAS, Comprised of approximately 50 members, the Finger Lakes
PPSNYS attracts individuals from Lake Ontario on the North, to Pennsyl-
vania to the South, and the area from Rochester to Syracuse, as well as
members from outside the regional boundaries; and
WHEREAS, The Finger Lakes PPSNYS centers its membership in Geneva, and
for the past 16 years, Hobart and William Smith Colleges have been host
to the PPSNYS Summer Workshop; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when associ-
ations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Finger Lakes Section of The
Professional Photographers' Society of New York State; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Finger Lakes Section of The Professional Photographers'
Society of New York State.
