LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Prostate Care Program at Stony
Brook University Medical Center for its ceaseless dedicated service to
the community

WHEREAS, A Great State is only as great as those persons who give exem-
plary service to their community, whether through participation in
voluntary programs, through unique personal achievement in their profes-
sional or other endeavors or simply through a lifetime of good citizen-
ry; and
WHEREAS, Such persons and organizations, which are truly the lifeblood
of the community and the State, so often go unrecognized and unrewarded;
and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the Prostate
Care Program at Stony Brook University Medical Center for its ceaseless
dedicated service to the community; and
WHEREAS, The Prostate Care Program at Stony Brook University Medical
Center provides screening, education and counseling throughout Long
Island for diseases of the prostate; and
WHEREAS, Our communities have been well served by the efforts of the
Prostate Care Program at Stony Brook University Medical Center through
their inpatient and outpatient services, state-of-the-art technology,
innovative treatment, current information and a full range of prostate
related services; and
WHEREAS, The Prostate Care Program at Stony Brook University Medical
Center has an incomparable outreach program that provides screenings at
local fire stations, churches, libraries, senior centers, police
precincts and regional clinics in order to encourage early detection of
prostate cancer, which claims the lives of more than 30,000 American men
each year; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to pay
tribute to the Prostate Care Program at Stony Brook University Medical
Center for its ceaseless dedicated service to the community; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Prostate Care Program at Stony Brook University Medical
Center.
