LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring John Scott upon the occasion of his
designation as Senior Citizen of the Year in Ulster County, New York

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, John Scott has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor John Scott
upon the occasion of his designation as Senior Citizen of the Year in
Ulster County, New York, to be celebrated on Tuesday, May 8, 2012; and
WHEREAS, John Scott is a well known figure in Walker Valley and the
Town of Shawangunk, New York; and
WHEREAS, John Scott worked for IBM for 30 years where he was employed
in a group working on chips for the computers used on the Apollo moon
shots; and
WHEREAS, After IBM, John Scott worked at Walden Savings Bank for eight
years; since retiring, he has continued to work on behalf of seniors in
Ulster County; and
WHEREAS, John Scott has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, From 1986 to 1989, John Scott served as Town Supervisor for
the Town of Shawangunk; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, John Scott has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which John Scott has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor John Scott upon the occasion of his designation as Senior Citizen
of the Year in Ulster County, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Scott.
