LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION recognizing and commending Cheri Ambrose and
Alexis Gubbay for their efforts to raise awareness of Male Breast Cancer

WHEREAS, What began as solo battles by Cheri Ambrose and Alexis Gubbay
on behalf of friends to raise awareness of Male Breast Cancer (MBC)
became a team effort when they met at a Susan G. Komen Annual Breast
Cancer Month event; and
WHEREAS, Cheri Ambrose became involved in the Komen Race for the Cure
in May 2011 when she ran the 5K for a dear friend of hers, Brian, who
had recently undergone a double mastectomy and was just over a year
cancer free; and
WHEREAS, Brian stood by her side that soggy, cold May morning to cheer
her on as the race began and she will never forget how justly proud she
was to be doing this for him; and
WHEREAS, Alexis Gubbay's story began a few short years ago when her
husband Judah was diagnosed with MBC and tragically lost his fight in
2007 at the age of 43; and
WHEREAS, Cheri Ambrose and Alexis Gubbay believe their paths crossed
for a reason; they have joined forces and have been able to have a Proc-
lamation issued by Governor Chris Christie proclaiming the third week of
October, October 21 through October 27, 2012, as Male Breast Cancer
Awareness Week in New Jersey, making New Jersey the third state, joining
New York and Massachusetts in this worthy endeavor; and
WHEREAS, Determined and confident they can bring awareness to all men,
Cheri Ambrose and Alexis Gubbay continue their fight daily and partic-
ipate in as many events as they can to spread their Male Breast Cancer
awareness message; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize, commend, and applaud Cheri Ambrose and Alexis Gubbay for
their efforts to raise awareness of Male Breast Cancer; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cheri Ambrose and Alexis Gubbay.
