LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the East Williamsburg Valley Indus-
trial Development Corporation upon the occasion of celebrating its 30th
Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the East Williamsburg Valley Industrial Development Corporation upon the
occasion of celebrating its 30th Anniversary on Wednesday, May 23, 2012,
at Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, This year, EWVIDCO will pay special recognition to Michael
Rochford, Executive Director of St. Nicks Alliance and the founding
Executive Director of EWVIDCO; HG Stones and Amtec International, two
local firms that recently engaged in expansions; and will honor TwoSeven
and Brooklyn Kitchen, two local innovators that exemplify excellence in
design and artisan food production communities; and
WHEREAS, The East Williamsburg Valley Industrial Development Corpo-
ration (EWVIDCO) began operating in 1982, as a membership organization
which promotes the development and retention of production, manufactur-
ing and industrial service buildings to improve neighborhoods in North
Brooklyn and the surrounding communities; and
WHEREAS, EWVIDCO has been dedicated to economically revitalizing and
networking the economies of North Brooklyn communities by working with
local businesses to fully optimize their productivity, and by attracting
economic attention to these neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, EWVIDCO manages the New York City Greenpoint-Williamsburg,
North Brooklyn Industrial Business Zones and the North Brooklyn Empire
Zone, working with over 1,000 industrial businesses providing them with
free, quick, and reliable assistance with tax credits, incentives,
financing, real estate, and relocation assistance, energy and green
issues, workforce needs, and advocacy; and
WHEREAS, EWVIDCO's Empire Zone program provides struggling businesses
a jump start by helping them to qualify for tax credits that allow them
to free up space for employment and investment opportunities; and
WHEREAS, EWVIDCO has connected businesses with the resources they need
to prosper, and continues to do so with their Plan Ahead Brooklyn initi-
ative which encourages a race to the top for expert consulting services
that focus on the specific growth needs of a qualified business; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the East Williamsburg Valley Industrial Development Corporation
upon the occasion of celebrating its 30th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the East Williamsburg Valley Industrial Development Corpo-
ration.
