LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Carole Nugent upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Exceptional Volunteer for Emergency
Services Award by the American Red Cross of Mid-Hudson Valley

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Carole Nugent has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Carole Nugent
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Exceptional
Volunteer for Emergency Services Award by the American Red Cross of
Mid-Hudson Valley, to be celebrated at its Annual Meeting and Volunteer
Recognition Dinner on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at the Dutchess Golf and
Country Club in Poughkeepsie, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Exceptional Volunteer for Emergency Services Award is
given to an individual who has lent extraordinary talent, leadership, or
service to the Emergency Services programs and is knowledgeable of Red
Cross programs, philosophy and goals; and
WHEREAS, A volunteer with the American Red Cross for the past 10
years, Carole Nugent began her work at the Red Cross as a driver for
senior transportation services; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Carole Nugent volunteers in disaster relief, where
she consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty, providing aid
to all who need it; and
WHEREAS, Carole Nugent also contributes much of her time and energy to
helping out with community events; and
WHEREAS, Carole Nugent has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Carole Nugent has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Carole Nugent has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Carole Nugent upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Exceptional Volunteer for Emergency Services Award by the American
Red Cross of Mid-Hudson Valley; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Carole Nugent.
