LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Barbara Gasperetti upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Orange County Fire Prevention Educa-
tor of the Year Award by the Orange County Firefighters Museum

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Gasperetti has given not only of her time and ener-
gies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Barbara
Gasperetti upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Orange County Fire Prevention Educator of the Year Award by the Orange
County Firefighters Museum, to be celebrated at the museum on Saturday,
June 2, 2012, in Montgomery, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Orange County Firefighters Museum was founded in 1996, by
a group of Orange County fire commissioners, chiefs, volunteers and
professional firefighters; the museum was formed as a not-for-profit
organization and chartered as a New York state educational institution
in June 1997; and
WHEREAS, Situated in the old firehouse in the Village of Montgomery's
historic district, the Orange County Firefighters Museum records 200
years of firefighting in Orange County; and
WHEREAS, Fire prevention and safety education are extremely important
to Orange County citizens and individuals like Barbara Gasperetti should
be recognized for their efforts and dedication to serving the public;
and
WHEREAS, The second recipient to receive the Fire Prevention Educator
of the Year Award, Barbara Gasperetti was selected for this auspicious
honor for her unique ability to find innovative ways of presenting fire
prevention and fire safety education to the public; and
WHEREAS, A lieutenant in the Coldenham Fire Company, Barbara Gasperet-
ti is also a fire prevention educator at both the Berea and East Colden-
ham Elementary Schools in the Valley Central School District; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Gasperetti has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her dedicated service to the Coldenham Fire
Company, Barbara Gasperetti is an Orange AHRC employee at the Jean Black
School for the developmentally disabled; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Barbara Gasperetti has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Barbara Gasperetti has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Barbara Gasperetti upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Orange County Fire Prevention Educator of the Year Award by
the Orange County Firefighters Museum; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Barbara Gasperetti.
