LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Floral Park Brick Heads First Lego
League Team upon the occasion of winning first place at the Long Island
FLL Championship Tournament

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Floral Park Brick Heads First Lego League Team upon the occasion of
winning first place at the Long Island FLL Championship Tournament at
Longwood High School in Middle Island, New York; and
WHEREAS, FLL was founded in 1989, by inventor Dean Kamen to inspire
young people's interest and participation in science and technology; and
WHEREAS, The Floral Park Brick Heads First Lego League Team achieved
their first place score of 183 points by programming an autonomous robot
to perform a series of tasks on a robot game field; and
WHEREAS, The competition included 43 top FLL teams from throughout
Nassau and Suffolk Counties; and
WHEREAS, Coaches Cindy Casson, James Craig and Jean Powers have done a
superb job in guiding, molding and inspiring the team members toward
their goals; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Floral Park Brick Heads First Lego League Team upon the occa-
sion of winning first place at the Long Island FLL Championship Tourna-
ment; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Floral Park Brick Heads First Lego League Team, and
Coaches Cindy Casson, James Craig and Jean Powers.
