LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Drake D. Becksted as a distin-
guished student of Oswego County, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals and
values cherished by the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Drake D. Becksted as a distinguished student of Oswego County, who
has accumulated numerous achievements as both a student and an athlete;
and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young man, as a result of his hard work,
dedication and perseverance will attend Virginia Polytechnic Institute
and State University, and has also earned a place on the university's
swim team; and
WHEREAS, Drake Becksted has achieved the rank of scholar-athlete
throughout his four years in high school; and
WHEREAS, His many achievements include team co-captain and five year
Most Valuable Player on the Oswego High School Boys Varsity Swimming and
Diving Team, and numerous state and national swimming and diving awards
and competitions; and
WHEREAS, Drake Becksted is also the recipient of numerous scholastic
and musical achievements, including Central New York, Scholastic Art
Competition Silver Key Award for Design, the Oneida Jazz Fest Gold Award
Jazz Band "A" Class AAA, Best Trombone Section Jazz Band "A", and
achievement as an academic top 25 of his senior class; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he has achieved success in the area of communi-
cations, television production and graphic design, and is currently a
co-anchor and segment writer for WBUC; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional student with his zest for life and drive for
success, has inspired and enhanced the lives of his family and friends;
and
WHEREAS, Through hard work and determination , Drake Becksted has been
successful throughout his student years as a scholar, athlete and well
rounded young man; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Drake D. Becksted for his many achievements both in and outside
the classroom, and as a distinguished student of Oswego County, New
York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Drake D. Becksted.
