LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Middletown High School Chorus upon
the occasion of placing first at the Fiesta-Val Music Competition in
Orlando, Florida

WHEREAS, The administrators of the Middletown School District are
committed to actively promoting and nurturing a comprehensive music
program for all the students of the district; and
WHEREAS, Those same administrators have been supportive, actively
encouraging music program staff to devote their time and energy to
developing the talents of their students; and
WHEREAS, The Chorus of Middletown High School, Middletown, New York,
comprised of 52 students of the highest musical and academic caliber,
won the Fiesta-Val Music Competition in April 2012; the chorus team won
in all four categories and received the Festival's Grand Champions
Trophy; and
WHEREAS, The Chorus of Middletown High School won the chamber singers,
men's chorus, women's chorale and piper categories; and
WHEREAS, Led by vocal music teacher Greg Bennett, the Chorus of
Middletown High School has been crowned Grand Champions three times in
his 20 years at the school; a total of 14 schools competed in the
national competition; and
WHEREAS, Talent, dedication, and countless hours of practice have made
the Middletown High School Chorus the outstanding ensemble it is today;
and
WHEREAS, The members work hard at their music rehearsals, classroom
assignments and practice sessions, fully aware that the amount of time
and energy they are willing to expend directly affects the quality of
their music; and
WHEREAS, The Middletown High School Chorus members, along with their
parents and teachers, can be justifiably proud of their musical achieve-
ments and their participation in the Fiesta-Val Music Competition; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Middletown High School Chorus upon the occasion of placing
first at the Fiesta-Val Music Competition in Orlando, Florida; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Greg Bennett, vocal music teacher, Middletown High School
Chorus.
