LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Barbara McGuinness upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by Our Lady of Mercy Life Center

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its
citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Barbara McGuinness upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Our Lady of Mercy Life Center at its 13th Annual Cele-
bration of Life on Wednesday, May 30, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Barbara McGuinness is being recognized for her contributions
of time and talent to Our Lady of Mercy Life Center; she served on its
Board from 1996 through 2005; during that time, she served in a variety
of capacities, including both Vice Chair and Chair of the Board; and
WHEREAS, Barbara McGuinness was an active member of the development,
finance, nominating, executive and quality management committees during
her tenure; most importantly, she was a mentor to all on the quality
management committee; and
WHEREAS, Barbara McGuinness brought a wealth of experience and know-
ledge to the quality management group; her professional background as a
nurse who previously worked as vice president of clinical services for a
large group of nursing homes along with coordinating continuing educa-
tion for HANYS assisted the Center on a number of its initiatives; and
WHEREAS, During this period, Our Lady of Mercy Life Center was recog-
nized by IPRO for best practices related to pain management and pressure
ulcers; it also received recognition from the Department of Health for
the improvement of nutrition and hydration; Barbara McGuinness encour-
aged and supported the Center in becoming a charter member of the
National Advancing Excellence in Nursing Homes group; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Barbara McGuinness upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by Our Lady of Mercy Life Center; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Barbara McGuinness.
