LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jean Brucher upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Rural Sullivan Housing Corpo-
ration

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies to best serve
the interests of the community, especially those in need, are an asset
beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Jean Brucher has given, not only of her time and energies,
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and, consequent-
ly, has been designated for special recognition by the Rural Sullivan
Housing Corporation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jean Brucher
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Rural Sullivan Housing Corporation; and
WHEREAS, The Rural Sullivan Housing Corporation was created 30 years
ago; its mission has been to safeguard and improve the housing opportu-
nities of those residents in Sullivan County living at the low and
moderate income level through housing related services and housing
development activities, providing these citizens and families with hope
and opportunity; and
WHEREAS, Jean Brucher is a Charter Board Member of the Rural Sullivan
Housing Corporation and has served as its Chairwoman since the organiza-
tion began; with her serving as Chair, the Corporation has been able to
create hundreds of new senior and low-to-moderate income rental units
because of its partnership with various developers; the organization has
also assisted hundreds of homeowners with repairs that have eliminated
health and safety hazards, provided energy efficient repairs, resulting
in a lower cost of living and a higher quality of life; and
WHEREAS, Through its housing counseling activities, the Rural Sullivan
Housing Corporation has helped residents to become first time homebuyers
and has recently worked with homeowners in mortgage default to prevent
foreclosure on their homes; none of this would have been possible with-
out the dedicated efforts of Jean Brucher, who has successfully served
as Chairwoman for thirty years and has been a true asset to the Rural
Sullivan Housing Corporation and the community which it serves; and
WHEREAS, Jean Brucher has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself selflessly; throughout the entire period of her community
service, a period of constructive involvement, Jean Brucher has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Jean Brucher has displayed throughout
her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jean Brucher upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Rural Sullivan Housing Corporation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jean Brucher.
