LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Andrew Zucaro upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Eden II and Genesis Founda-
tion

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Zucaro has given not only of his time and energie but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Andrew Zucaro
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the Eden
II and Genesis Foundation on Saturday, March 5, 2011, in Roslyn, New
York; and
WHEREAS, The Eden II and Genesis Foundation (previously known as FAAP)
is a nonprofit organization whose primary purpose is to provide much
needed funds for programs and services that support individuals with
autism; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Zucaro has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, In 1979, Andrew Zucaro started his own construction business;
a self-made entrepreneur, he has grown into one of the more established
general contractors of Commercial Construction on Long Island, and his
company, Zucaro Construction, LLC, recently celebrated its 31st Anniver-
sary; and
WHEREAS, Some recent accomplishments of Zucaro Construction include
building the seven-story Viana Hotel in Westbury, which is the first
LEED certified Green Hotel on Long Island, Parker Waichman Alonso LLP
Attorneys Corporate Offices, The Four Points Sheraton in Plainview, and
The Garden City Country Club, to name a few; and
WHEREAS, A member of the US Green Building Council, Andrew Zucaro is a
supporter of many charities and philanthropic organizations; in 2009, he
was honored as the 2009 Humanitarian of the Year for the Italian Board
of Guardians; and
WHEREAS, A proud advocate of the Eden II/Genesis Programs, Andrew
Zucaro supports many other foundations, including the Children's Brain
Tumor Foundation, Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Long
Island, Ascent School for Autism, Autism Speaks, Rainbow Chimes Child-
hood Education Center, Mental Health Association of Nassau County, Hope
House, The INN, South Queens Boys and Girls Club, and Hurricane and
Tsunami Relief social functions; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Andrew Zucaro has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Elena, their chil-
dren, Andrew Jr., Michelle, and Robin, all of whom feel privileged to be
a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Andrew Zucaro has displayed through-
out his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Andrew Zucaro upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Eden II and Genesis Foundation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Andrew Zucaro.
