LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Wayside Out-Reach Development, Inc.
upon the occasion of hosting its 15th Annual Community Service Awards on
June 22, 2012

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Wayside Out-Reach Development, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its
15th Annual Community Service Awards on Friday, June 22, 2012, at Glen
Terrace in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Wayside Out-Reach Development, Inc. (WORD) is a nonprofit
organization with a 31 year history of enabling the elderly in Brooklyn
to maintain their independence and remain at home in the community; and
WHEREAS, Since its beginning in a church hallway in 1980, Wayside has
grown into a dynamic organization serving over 2,500 seniors annually;
and
WHEREAS, With seven senior centers, a transportation program, and a
Meals on Wheels program, WORD is dedicated to making sure its clients
receive proper nutrition, participate in meaningful activities, and have
access to all services that allow them to age in place successfully; and
WHEREAS, WORD also seeks to encourage health and wellness, motivate
active participation, foster creative use of leisure time, maintain a
safety net where needed, and nurture family and community responsibil-
ity; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Wayside Out-Reach Development, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting
its 15th Annual Community Service Awards on June 22, 2012; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Wayside Out-Reach Development, Inc.
