LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Harry Jacobson, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Harry Jacobson of Massapequa Park, New York, died on Tuesday,
June 12, 2012, at the age of 89; and
WHEREAS, For the past decade, Harry Jacobson served with distinction
on the Board of Trustees of the Village of Massapequa Park, New York;
prior to that, he served from 1990-1999 as a member of the Village's
Zoning Board of Appeals; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Harry Jacobson was one of the founding members
of the Massapequa Lions Club; he and his wife, Jessica, also volunteered
at BOCES for over three decades; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Massapequa since the early 1950s, Harry Jacob-
son was a special person; he believed in his community and desired the
best for everyone; he served as a Scout leader in the community for many
years; and
WHEREAS, Harry Jacobson was very caring and giving; his leadership on
the Board of Trustees of the Village of Massapequa Park will be greatly
missed; and
WHEREAS, Harry Jacobson is survived by his wife, Jessica, their chil-
dren, and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Harry Jacobson leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; he will be remembered as someone who made a posi-
tive difference in the lives of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Harry Jacobson, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Harry Jacobson.
