LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Cat Peters of Clarence High School
upon the occasion of capturing the 2012 New York State Class AA Girls
Golf Championship

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Cat Peters of Clarence High School upon the occasion of
capturing the 2012 New York State Class AA Girls Golf Championship; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Clarence High School, Cat Peters captured the
2012 New York State Class AA Girls Golf Championship on Sunday, June 10,
2012, at The College Golf Course at SUNY Delhi; and
WHEREAS, Shooting an even-par score of 72, following a rain-plagued 75
score the previous day, Cat Peters prevailed by two strokes over her
nearest competitor; she began her final round three shots behind the
leader, and shot a 1-under 35 on the front nine and a 37 on the back
nine; she birdied holes 9, 10 and 15; and
WHEREAS, Cat Peters of Clarence High School is the first girl from
Section VI to win a New York State golf championship; her performance in
the 2012 tournament was her second trip to the New York State champion-
ships; in 2011 she placed fourth; and
WHEREAS, Cat Peters has signed a national letter of intent to attend
the University of Michigan in the fall; she intends to continue her golf
career there and study physical education; and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Cat Peters' dedication to golf is a
year-round, everyday commitment; she is highly focused and has developed
a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Cat Peters' exemplary performance is reflective of her dedi-
cation, determination and personal commitment; her achievements stand as
a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and communities
across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Cat Peters of Clarence High School upon the occasion of
capturing the 2012 New York State Class AA Girls Golf Championship, and
to congratulate her for the enduring honor she has brought to her fami-
ly, her school and her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed; be tran-
smitted to Cat Peters.
