LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 125th Anniversary of the United
Way of the Southern Tier

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 125th Anniversary of the United Way of the Southern Tier; and
WHEREAS, United Way of the Southern Tier is a locally managed nonpro-
fit organization and the largest non-government funding organization of
health and human services in Steuben and Chemung counties, and
WHEREAS, The mission of the United Way of the Southern Tier is to
effectively mobilize the caring power of the community to help people
improve their lives; and
WHEREAS, The vision of the United Way of the Southern Tier is to be
the trusted and respected leader in achieving positive community impact;
and
WHEREAS, The United Way of the Southern Tier is celebrating its 125th
Anniversary in calendar year 2012; and
WHEREAS, The kick-off for the 2012 campaign of the United Way of the
Southern Tier will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012, at the Nasser
Civic Center in Corning, New York; the event will feature family enter-
tainment as well as music by Beatlemania Again and Nick and the Nice
Guys; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the United Way of
the Southern Tier; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an organ-
ization of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our atten-
tion, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 125th Anniversary of the United Way of the Southern
Tier; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the United Way of the Southern Tier.
