LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the members of the Levine Family upon
the occasion of their designation for special recognition by the 2011
SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT All in the Family Edition

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the members
of the Levine Family upon the occasion of their designation for special
recognition by the 2011 SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT All in the Family
Edition for 103 years of ceaseless dedicated service to the community;
and
WHEREAS, In 1907, the Levines moved from Brooklyn, New York, where
they had a successful coal and lumber business, to Fallsburg, New York;
one year later, the family opened up Fallsburg Lumber; and
WHEREAS, With its motto "Everything to build anything," Fallsburg
Lumber offers full building supply including roofing, lumber, insu-
lation, key cutting and much more; and
WHEREAS, This notable company has thrived for over a century through
economic ups and downs, and a vastly changing society primarily because
of its superior customer service; Fallsburg Lumber stakes its reputation
on its honesty, knowledge and ability to offer individualized attention
to its loyal customers; and
WHEREAS, Today, five generations of the Levine Family run the store
which is regularly staffed by Steve Levine, his wife, Ellen, and son,
Nolan; Richard Levine and his wife, Stacy; and Monroe Levine, son of the
original owner; and
WHEREAS, The Levine Family has not only been committed to excellent
service, but also to the community that has supported it for over 103
years; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Levine Family was part of the founding
membership and charter of the South Fallsburg Volunteer Fire Department,
and in 1927, Fallsburg Lumber donated funds for the purchase of a new
fire truck for the department; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Steve Levine served as Supervisor for the Town
of Fallsburg, and both he and Richard Levine are past Chiefs and active
members of South Fallsburg Volunteer Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to honor and commend the
members, past and present, of the Levine Family who have labored so
conscientiously to secure and improve the quality of life for the resi-
dents and community they serve; noting the significance of their
unremitting efforts to build a commonality of interest and pride of
cooperative achievement, inherent in the values of community and family
life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations
commend the members of the Levine Family upon the occasion of their
designation for special recognition by the 2011 SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT
All in the Family Edition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Levine Family.
