LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Siler Family upon the occasion of
receiving the Wyoming County Good Neighbor Award

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Siler Family upon the occasion of receiving the Wyoming County Good
Neighbor Award, to be celebrated on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the
Wyoming County Pride of Agriculture Dinner; and
WHEREAS, Joe and Mary Siler, along with their son, Joe, Jr., are
owners and operators of Sivue Farms and Siler's Sugar Shanty in North
Java, New York; and
WHEREAS, Advocates of agriculture, Joe and Mary Siler feature a large
produce stand which consists of eggs, maple syrup, and fresh vegetables
in season; using their campground to attract visitors to the farm, the
Siler Family opens it for tours when dairying in order to inform and
educate the public on their procedures when producing multiple gallons
of milk or syrup; and
WHEREAS, Active in the community, Joe and Mary Siler are affiliated
with the North Java Fire and Rescue Department as EMTs and assist with
ambulance responsibilities whenever they are able; and
WHEREAS, Being good neighbors, the Siler Family responded with the
rescue squad at the home of another farmer; they assisted with chores
and helped to get their neighbor's crops in; and
WHEREAS, The Siler Family also donates and delivers produce to the
food bank and at a local church which prepares meals for those in need;
they recently donated 60 dozen eggs to an Attica FFA event; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for Joe and Mary Siler, along with their
son, Joe, Jr., and to wish them continued success in all of their future
endeavors; now, therefore, be
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Siler Family upon the occasion of receiving the Wyoming County
Good Neighbor Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Siler Family.
