LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Robert Savino upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the Diabetes Research Insti-
tute

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Robert Savino has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Robert
Savino upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
the Diabetes Research Institute to be celebrated at its 8th Annual Cook-
ing for a Cure benefit on Monday, March 28, 2011, at Page One Restau-
rant, Glen Cove, New York; and
WHEREAS, The mission at the Diabetes Research Institute is to develop,
and rapidly apply, the most promising research to treat those now living
with diabetes; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Robert Savino received his undergraduate degree from New
York University in 1984 and his medical degree from the New York College
of Osteopathic Medicine in 1988; and
WHEREAS, He completed internships at Coney Island Hospital and Long
Island Jewish Hospitals, and a Clinical Fellowship in Endocrinology at
the Lahey Clinic and the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, Massachu-
setts; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Dr. Robert Savino is Chief of the Department of
Endocrinology and Director of the Diabetes Management Program at Danbury
Hospital; in this capacity, he cares for patients with endocrine and
metabolic disorders; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his clinical practice and administrative
duties, Dr. Robert Savino is actively involved in the education program
at his institution; he serves as a preceptor for medical students
completing rotation in Internal Medicine, lectures to Internal Medicine
residents, and participates in seminars to educate community physicians
about endocrine and metabolic disorders; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Robert Savino has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board
of Internal Medicine and subspecialty board in Endocrinology, Diabetes
and Metabolism; he is a member of the American Diabetes Association and
the Endocrine Society, as well as a Fellow of the American College of
Endocrinology; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dr. Robert Savino has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dr. Robert Savino has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Robert Savino upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Diabetes Research Institute; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Robert Savino.
