LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Essence Fowler upon the occasion of
being named the Glen Cove 2011 Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year
WHEREAS, It is the sense of tins Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Essence Fowler upon the occasion of being named the Glen Cove 2011 Boys
& Girls Club Youth of the Year; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award is Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club at
Lincoln House's highest honor; it recognizes its members outstanding
contributions to family, school, community and the Boys & Girls Club;
and
WHEREAS, At the age of 14, Essence Fowler is a true example of an
extraordinary young woman; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Boys & Girls Club for six years, Essence
Fowler has participated in a number of activities including, cooking
club, ballroom dancing, step, Summer Youth Employment, Power Hour, Piano
Lessons, and Volleyball; and
WHEREAS, Essence Fowler, since a very young age, has been an active
part of her community; in her role as a girl scout, she gained the
understanding of the concept of a global community through her partic-
ipation in countless service projects; and
WHEREAS, Extremely involved in her school community, Essence Fowler is
also a peer-aide who meets with other youth to discuss issues that teens
face today; she tutors and studies with peers in Math and is a member of
Key Club; an athletically inclined young woman, she plays Tennis and
Softball, and is on the Kickline Team; and
WHEREAS, In the future, Essence Fowler plans to attend Johnson and
Wales University for Culinary Arts to pursue a career as a chef; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor the youth
of today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Essence Fowler upon the occasion of being named the Glen Cove 2011
Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Essence Fowler, 48 Kennedy Heights, Glen Cove, New York
11542.
