LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring E.W. Howell upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the Industry Leadership Award by the Suffolk
County Community College Foundation

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those busi-
nesses within the State of New York which distinguish themselves through
outstanding professional behavior, corporate innovation, and enduring
commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor E.W.
Howell upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the Industry
Leadership Award by the Suffolk County Community College Foundation; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion will be celebrated at the Suffolk
County Community College Foundation's Salute to Excellence Dinner on
Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the Hyatt Regency Long Island, Hauppauge,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1891, as a builder of fine homes, E.W. Howell has
continued to grow into a highly reputable General Construction and
Management firm with offices in Manhattan and Long Island; the company
provides services to a diverse group of clients including retail, educa-
tional, government, cultural and healthcare organizations; and
WHEREAS, As a business that believes in giving back to its community,
E.W. Howell has been a part of many charitable projects throughout the
years and continues to support several local charities; and
WHEREAS, E.W. Howell has been an integral part of the expansion of
Suffolk County Community College; this seasoned company was instrumental
in the construction of the Sagtikos Art Center in 1990, the Multi-Pur-
pose Health Technology Building in 2000, and most recently, the Montauk-
ett Learning Center; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when businesses
of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention,
they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor E.W. Howell upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the Industry Leadership Award by the Suffolk County Community College
Foundation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to E.W. Howell.
