LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Reverend Louis Alphonse Vasile upon
the occasion of his 40th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood
to be celebrated Sunday, April 22, 2012

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish them-
selves and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preemi-
nence of service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Reverend
Louis Alphonse Vasile upon the occasion of his 40th Anniversary of his
Ordination to the Priesthood to be celebrated at a special Mass held in
his honor on Sunday, April 22, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Louis Alphonse Vasile was born November 7, 1944, to the late
Louis Joseph and Regina Elana Santaniello Vasile; he is the brother of
Genaro Vasile and his wife, MaryEllen, and Rosalie Vasile Brennan and
her husband, Paul, as well as the loving uncle of Kevin, Colleen, Brian,
Michelle and Elizabeth; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School in Auburn,
New York, Louis Alphonse Vasile was ordained a priest on April 8, 1972,
by Bishop Hogan at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Auburn, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Louis Alphonse Vasile began his ministerial service
at St. Philip Neri Church in Rochester, New York; and
WHEREAS, He went on to serve as Parochial Vicar at the Churches of St.
Christopher in North Chili, St. Patrick in Corning, and St. Lawrence in
Greece; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Reverend Louis Alphonse Vasile has served as
Secretary to the Bishop and Vice Chancellor of the Diocese of Rochester;
and
WHEREAS, He was also Pastor of the Churches of Anne in Palmyra, and
St. Gregory in Marion; Temporary Parochial Administrator of St.
Hyacinth in Auburn; and Pastor of the Church of the Resurrection in
Fairport; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Louis Alphonse Vasile's past services include: Board
member of Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes, and past Clergy member
of the St. Joseph School Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, For the last 13 years, Reverend Louis Alphonse Vasile has
been an empathetic and loving shepherd to the people of St. Alphonsus
Parish in Auburn, New York; in 1990, he was extremely instrumental in
the successful renovation of St. Alphonsus Church, an enormous undertak-
ing; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Reverend Louis Alphonse Vasile serves as a member
of the Pastoral Planning Board for the Auburn Catholic Community, Advi-
sor to "Give to the World" organizing committee, and Supervisor of the
St. Alphonsus Dominican Republic Daycare Project in Hato Nuevo, Domini-
can Republic; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Louis Alphonse Vasile is a strong advocate on behalf
of the Military, Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters and Healthcare Person-
nel; moreover, he actively ministers to Matthew House which is hospice
care; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Louis Alphonse Vasile has brought to his ministry an
overwhelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and
enlightenment in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties,

while always displaying the highest standards of personal and profes-
sional integrity and dedication; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given enlightenment,
guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has adminis-
tered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal needs of
all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Reverend Louis Alphonse Vasile upon the occasion of his 40th
Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood, noting his unremitting
and compassionate faith and his exemplary service to God, man, and his
community, and extending to him the heartfelt best wishes of this Legis-
lative Body for a future of purposeful success and well-being; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Louis Alphonse Vasile.
