LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Elizabeth Ann Robinson Judson
posthumously upon the occasion of being named Grand Island Senior High
School 2012 Distinguished Alumni

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have devoted
themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their community
and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr.
Elizabeth Ann Robinson Judson upon the occasion of being named Grand
Island Senior High School 2012 Distinguished Alumni, to be celebrated on
Friday, April 27, 2012, at Grand Island Senior High School in Grand
Island, New York; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Dr. Judson worked tirelessly as a
general manager of a ceramic armor start-up company associated with
Georgia Tech, and later as a consultant to the University-Industry
Demonstration Partnership of National Academies; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Judson graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in
1977, then earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Ceramic Science and
Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics, magna cum laude, from Alfred
University, receiving her Master of Science degree in Ceramic Engineer-
ing and Material Science in 1991, then finally a PhD in the same disci-
plines in 1999; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Dr. Judson served as a board member of
the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology and served on the
advisory boards at both Georgia Tech and Clemson University; she was
also an active participant and trustee in the South Catholic College;
and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all citizens of the
State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Elizabeth Ann Robinson Judson posthumously upon the occasion
of being named Grand Island Senior High School 2012 Distinguished Alum-
ni; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Dr. Elizabeth Ann Robinson Judson.
