LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring The International Institute of Municipal
Clerks upon the occasion of celebrating the 43rd Annual Municipal Clerks
Week, May 6-12, 2012

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have devoted
themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their community
and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor The
International Institute of Municipal Clerks upon the occasion of cele-
brating the 43rd Annual Municipal Clerks Week, May 6-12, 2012; and
WHEREAS, This event features a week-long series of activities aimed at
increasing public awareness of Municipal Clerks; and
WHEREAS, This week honors the vital services Municipal Clerks provide
for local governments and the community; they perform some of the prin-
cipal functions of the democratic process; and
WHEREAS, In 1984 and in 1994, President Ronald Reagan and President
Bill Clinton, respectively, signed a Proclamation officially declaring
Municipal Clerks Week the first full week of May; and
WHEREAS, During this week, Municipal Clerks throughout the world will
host open houses and tours of Municipal Clerks offices, visit local
schools and participate in other various events; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor The International Institute of Municipal Clerks upon the occasion
of celebrating the 43rd Annual Municipal Clerks Week, May 6-12, 2012 and
wish this association continued success in all future endeavors; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The International Institute of Municipal Clerks.
