WHEREAS, The United States has suffered a drastic economic crisis that
has left animals behind in abandoned homes to die or left on the door-
steps of overpopulated shelters and rescues; and

throughout the United States will significantly lower the number of cats
and dogs euthanized and reduce the number of animals returned to a shel-

ters every year and animal rescue volunteers help to ensure that many
homeless animals receive the medical care they need, as well as a chance
to be adopted into a caring home; and
WHEREAS, One of the greatest weapons to fight against animal cruelty
is our children; teaching future generations to respect and love all
creatures lays the foundation for a healthy attitude toward animals; and
WHEREAS, Animal Rescue Volunteer Day will reduce the problem of pet

well as financial and educational resources for the problems animal
shelters face each day; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the dedication and
accomplishment of all volunteers, past and present, and all those
engaged in the fight for saving the lives of animals; and
