LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION paying tribute to Mary Hetterich upon the occa-
sion of her designation for special recognition by the Donald W. Gleason
American Legion Post 190, Delhi, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to pay just tribute to
Mary Hetterich upon the occasion of her designation for special recogni-
tion by the Donald W. Gleason American Legion Post 190, Auxiliary Unit
190, and Sons of the American Legion Squadron 190, Delhi, New York, on
Monday, March 7, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Mary Hetterich is being recognized for her "gift of song" and
her personal contribution to the highest standards of Americanism;
furthermore, she is being honored in appreciation of her renditions of
the "Star Spangled Banner" at the Delaware Academy's home sports
contests; and
WHEREAS, A senior at the Delaware Academy, in Delhi, New York, Mary
Hetterich was selected for the New York All-State Music Festival, held
in December 2010, and participates in the high school's musicals; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young woman plans to pursue an undergraduate
degree in Music Performance and Opera Studies; and
WHEREAS, Over the past two years, Mary Hetterich has sung approximate-
ly 50 renditions of the National Anthem at home football and basketball
games, as well as wrestling matches and swim contests; and
WHEREAS, Mary Hetterich exemplifies the best potential which is inher-
ent in our most precious resource, our youth; she has brought enduring
honor to her family, her school and her community through her many
achievements; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to pay
tribute to Mary Hetterich upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Donald W. Gleason American Legion Post 190,
Delhi, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mary Hetterich.
