LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Smith
Packing Company

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
small businesses within the State of New York which contribute to the
economic health and vitality of the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, Established by Wolf Smith in 1911, Smith Packing Company has
proudly served central New York as a wholesale distributor and meat
processor for 100 years; and
WHEREAS, Smith Packing is a custom meat processor, food distributor
and consolidator and offers storage and transportation services; and
WHEREAS, Smith Packing Company also features a vast assortment of
items from many of the top packers and manufacturers of products avail-
able in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Central New York is the heart of Smith Packing Company, which
distributes its products within 150 miles of Utica, New York, mostly to
independent operators in industrial, healthcare, retail or foodservice
industries; and
WHEREAS, Additionally, the company delivers food products from the
United States overseas to commercial export customers as well as mili-
tary customers; and
WHEREAS, Smith Packing Company has been committed to quality, service
and customer satisfaction since its inception; and
WHEREAS, Smith Packing Company is a customer-focused company offering
a full line of food products to both retail and foodservice companies;
the company currently distributes beef, pork, poultry, seafood, lamb and
veal, produce, dairy, eggs, frozen foods, prepared foods, non-foods and
disposables, chemicals and many national brands; and
WHEREAS, Almost 100 years of experience has allowed Smith Packing
Company to develop relationships between suppliers and customers who
understand its desire to provide the products; and
WHEREAS, Smith Packing Company believes that developing customer-sup-
plier partnerships is the key to building long term success for every-
one; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses such as Smith Packing Company exert a
strong, positive influence on the communities they serve and are a
crucial element in the economy of New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Smith Packing Company; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Smith Packing Company.
