LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Rockland
BOCES

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those organizations which are committed to enhancing the
quality of education in the State of New York, and which enable our
schools to offer excellent educational programs in the most efficient
manner; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of Rockland BOCES (Board of Cooperative
Educational Services); and
WHEREAS, BOCES, in partnership with local school districts and their
communities, the Board of Regents and the Commissioner of Education, are
leaders in providing quality, cost-effective, educationally focused
programs and services that support learners in achieving high standards
and personal educational goals; and
WHEREAS, For five decades, Rockland BOCES has stood behind its philos-
ophy to believe in the intrinsic value of every learner, to reaffirm its
commitment to provide quality leadership and instructional excellence,
and to acknowledge its part of a greater whole, whose shared efforts
serve their learning community; and
WHEREAS, Rockland BOCES serves eight component districts, which
collectively total nearly 42,000 students; on average, approximately
1,500 of those students will attend Rockland BOCES; and
WHEREAS, BOCES provides special education, career and technical educa-
tion, adult education, professional development, instructional services,
educational technology, library services and a number of management
services for component school districts; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is very pleased to have this opportu-
nity to salute Rockland BOCES for its long history of purposeful endeav-
or which has greatly benefited the community, and to wish this worthy
organization continued success in future years; now, therefore, be it.
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Rockland BOCES; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rockland BOCES, 65 Parrott Road, West Nyack, New York 10994.
