LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the renaming of the field at RFA
Stadium in recognition of Coach Tom Hoke

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation and the great
State of New York is reflective of the purposeful lives and good works
of community members who dedicated their lives and careers to the
service of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the renaming of the field at RFA Stadium in recognition of Coach
Tom Hoke on Friday, October 8, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Coach Tom Hoke served the Rome City School District with
distinction as Head Varsity Football Coach for 26 years and physical
education teacher for more than 30 years; and
WHEREAS, Coach Tom Hoke served as Head Football Coach from 1974-2000;
he coached the 1981 New York State Championship Team and at the end of
his career, he became the second winningest coach in Section III histo-
ry; and
WHEREAS, Coach Tom Hoke finished with a record of 210-41-4, along with
19 league titles and eight sectional championships; and
WHEREAS, Coach Tom Hoke has made a significant contribution to both
the school district and the community of Rome, New York; and
WHEREAS, Numerous former players, students and graduates of the Rome
City School District have gone on to success and consider Coach Tom
Hoke to have been a critical mentor, coach and influence throughout
their lives and into adulthood; and
WHEREAS, Tom Hoke's passion for excellence helped make Friday nights
under the lights at RFA Stadium a lasting tradition of school spirit and
community pride; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the renaming of the field at RFA Stadium in recognition of
Coach Tom Hoke; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Coach Tom Hoke.
