LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Rosanna J. DeFilippo of Shaker
High School upon the occasion of her designation as Teenager of the Year
by the Colonie Elks Lodge

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Rosanna J. DeFilippo of Shaker High School upon the occasion of her
designation as Teenager of the Year by the Colonie Elks Lodge; this
auspicious event will be celebrated on Thursday, May 19, 2011; and
WHEREAS, A self-directed, conscientious and enthusiastic senior at
Shaker High School, Rosanna J. DeFilippo has accumulated an impressive
list of excellent achievements during her outstanding high school
career, including a number of courses taken at the advanced placement,
and honors levels; and
WHEREAS, Inducted into the National Honor Society in the Spring of
2010, Rosanna J. DeFilippo's numerous achievements and honors are
impressive; she participated in the National Student Leadership Confer-
ence, was a member and leader in the Tri-M Music Honor Society, recipi-
ent of The DAR Good Citizen Award, and was selected as a News Channel 13
"Kid Who Cares", to name a few; and
WHEREAS, Rosanna J. DeFilippo's extracurricular activities are equally
remarkable; she has four years of participation in Shaker theater as
well as one year with Colonie Youth Theatre; she also has seven years of
vocal performances including Shaker and All Girls Chorus, three years of
involvement in Colonie Youth Court, three years of service as Choral
Room Music Librarian, and is currently the Assistant Director of the St.
Pius X Camp for Exceptional Children; and
WHEREAS, Rosanna J. DeFilippo was selected for this special honor
because of her strong academic performance, her service to the school,
and her commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, Rosanna J. DeFilippo's sense of civic duty and her commitment
to others represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Rosanna J. DeFilippo of Shaker High School upon the occa-
sion of her designation as Teenager of the Year by the Colonie Elks
Lodge; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rosanna J. DeFilippo, 55 Upper Loudon Road, Loudonville, New
York 12211.
