LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jackson Watson upon the occasion of
competing in the 8-9 year-old boys division of the 39th Annual National
Elks Hoop Shoot Finals

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the State of New York who have
inspired and brought pride to their schools and communities by achieving
outstanding success in athletic competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jackson Watson upon the occasion of competing in the 8-9 year-old boys
division of the 39th Annual National Elks Hoop Shoot Finals on Saturday,
April 30, 2011, in Springfield, Massachusetts; and
WHEREAS, The cornerstone of the Benevolent and Protective Order of
Elks youth activities programs, the National Elks Hoop Shoot competition
highlights the fraternal organization's national commitment to youth;
this year, nearly 3,000,000 boys and girls between the ages of eight and
thirteen participated; and
WHEREAS, Representing Olean Elks Lodge No. 491, Jackson Watson
competed through and won five different stages of competition to get to
the National Finals; and
WHEREAS, A young man of singular distinction and superlative ability,
Jackson Watson has become a sterling example and inspiration to all who
would aspire to success in competitive sports; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, Jack-
son Watson now stands honorably, with just pride in his accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by his teachers, coaches
and parents; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jackson Watson upon the occasion of competing in the 8-9 year-old
boys division of the 39th Annual National Elks Hoop Shoot Finals, and to
extend to him best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-
being, fully confident of his response to a promising future and appre-
ciative of the model he represents for all aspiring young people of the
Empire State; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jackson Watson.
