LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the Ameri-
can Council of Engineering Companies of New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend organizations of true purpose and worthy accomplishment which
through their endeavors, provide essential services and foster the high-
est level of professionalism; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
American Council of Engineering Companies of New York and to commemorate
the celebration of its 90th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York
(ACEC New York) is the voice of New York State's engineering companies;
and
WHEREAS, Whether for sole proprietors or global companies, for young
principals or industry leaders, ACEC New York has, since its formation
in 1921, been true to its mission of being the leading advocate in New
York State for consulting engineers and of enhancing the image and busi-
ness practices of professional engineering companies; and
WHEREAS, ACEC New York represents 300 engineering and related affil-
iate companies throughout New York State, employing hundreds of thou-
sands of people worldwide; and
WHEREAS, ACEC New York companies enhance the quality of life all
across the State and allow for the fluidity of its economy by designing
bridges, tunnels, roadways, and water/waste-water and environmental
systems which account for more than a trillion dollars of investment
worldwide; and
WHEREAS, ACEC New York is a highly focused group that advocates for
smart growth and sustainable investments; and
WHEREAS, ACEC New York's Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) Program
annually recognizes and celebrates engineering achievements which demon-
strate the highest degree of skill and ingenuity among member firms; and
WHEREAS, The EEA Program, which has been called the Academy Awards of
the consulting engineering world, conveys to the engineering industry,
the construction industry, government officials and the general public
the contributions member firms make to the environment, to their commu-
nity, and around the world through exceptional engineering design; and
WHEREAS, Numerous ACEC New York member companies have, in addition,
been recognized locally, nationally and internationally for their award
winning designs; and
WHEREAS, ACEC New York's scholarship program promotes the consulting
engineering profession to promising New York State undergraduate engi-
neering students; since 2000 it has awarded several hundred thousand
dollars in scholarships to an impressive array of New York State engi-
neering students; and
WHEREAS, Founded in New York City in 1921, as the ACEC New York proud-
ly observes its 90th Anniversary, this Legislative Body is pleased to
have the opportunity to recognize its nine decades of service and to
applaud it for its continuing nurturing of professional excellence,
standards and education; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate this milestone in the history of the American Council of
Engineering Companies of New York and to honor the organization and its
members, past and present, upon the occasion of the celebration of its
90th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York.
