LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Donald E. Gibson, president and chief
executive officer of The Bank of Greene County, upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2011 Business Man of the Year Award by
the Greene County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
exceptional individuals and businesses which substantially contribute to
the economic vitality of their communities and the entire Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Donald E. Gibson, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Bank of
Greene County, upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2011 Business Man of the Year Award by the Greene County Chamber of
Commerce at its Annual Recognition Gala at The Point in Catskill, New
York, on Thursday, June 16, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The Greene County Chamber of Commerce is the county's largest
commercial organization, proud of its region's historic past and natural
beauty, it is dedicated to advancing the prosperity of all of its
members from not-for-profits and sole proprietors to large corporations;
it offers a valuable pool of resources from which members can draw ideas
and energy to grow their organizations and improve their bottom lines;
and
WHEREAS, A lifelong area resident, Donald E. Gibson grew up with The
Bank of Greene County, joining the bank in 1987, as a part-time teller
and management trainee when he was in college, at which point the bank
had only one branch and 25 employees; and
WHEREAS, Recognizing his talent, the bank continued to promote Donald
E. Gibson into a series of seven positions that were newly created for
him, ultimately naming him president and CEO of Greene County Bancorp
and its subsidiary, The Bank of Greene County, in July of 2007; and
WHEREAS, Through Donald E. Gibson's leadership, today The Bank of
Greene County has expanded to provide financial services to the region
through 12 branches in Albany, Columbia, and Greene Counties, with over
130 employees; in 2010, the company was listed on the NASDAQ stock
exchange; and
WHEREAS, In spite of challenging economic times, The Bank of Greene
County recently posted strong quarterly earnings, and has recently been
ranked as one of the safest banks in the nation; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his work with The Bank of Greene County,
Donald E. Gibson serves as a director of Columbia Memorial Hospital, the
Greene County Empire Zone, and the New York Bankers Association; he is
also a past-president of the Greene County Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of SUNY Oneonta, Donald E. Gibson earned his
master's degree in business administration from the College of St. Rose;
and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Patricia, and their
sons Kyle, Collin, and Ryan, all of whom feel privileged to be part of
his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for Donald E. Gibson and to wish him
continued success in all of his future endeavors; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Donald E. Gibson, President and Chief Executive Officer of The
Bank of Greene County, upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2011 Business Man of the Year Award by the Greene County Chamber
of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Donald E. Gibson, President and Chief Executive Officer of
The Bank of Greene County.
