LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Daniel Ryan upon the occasion of his
designation as Citizen of the Year by the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its
citizenry; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Daniel Ryan
upon the occasion of his designation as Citizen of the Year by the Beth-
lehem Chamber of Commerce on Friday, April 19, 2013, at the Cyprus
Shrine Center in Glenmont, New York; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Ryan has been committed to the Bethlehem community for
over 30 years, and during that time he has been an active member of the
Bethlehem Lions Club, dedicated to providing local residents in need
with hearing aids, eye exams and eye glasses; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Ryan has held numerous district officer positions with
the Lions Club, been active in bringing the Lions Eye Institute to
Slingerlands, and was a leader involved in bringing the Annual Lions
Christmas Tree sale to life for the past five years, raising a signif-
icant amount for the Institute; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his work with the Bethlehem Lions Club, Daniel
Ryan also finds time to support the Bethlehem Fire Department and the
First United Methodist Church's furniture program, donating his hand-
crafted birdhouses to numerous charitable organizations to benefit their
causes; he has worked tirelessly volunteering his time and energy in so
many ways to better the lives of individuals in need and those with
disabilities; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Daniel Ryan upon the occasion of his designation as Citizen of the
Year by the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Daniel Ryan.
