LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Hicks and
McCarthy Restaurant, Pittsford, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize illustri-
ous culinary establishments which have positively impacted and substan-
tially contributed to the vitality of their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to celebrate
the 100th Anniversary of Hicks and McCarthy Restaurant, Pittsford, New
York; and
WHEREAS, To recognize this milestone, many customers took a trip back
in time with the vintage menu items that were offered; and
WHEREAS, A landmark within its community, Hicks and McCarthy, located
in the Village of Pittsford, is one of the area's most historic restau-
rants; and
WHEREAS, Hicks and McCarthy first opened as a candy shop in 1913; in
the 1950s, it turned into a high school diner stop and, since then, has
evolved into the popular restaurant it is today; and
WHEREAS, For 100 years, Hicks and McCarthy has stood as a beloved
establishment which has provided a friendly, open environment for
patrons to collectively gather and share their thoughts, ideas and life
experiences; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Hicks and McCarthy Restaurant, Pitts-
ford, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Hicks and McCarthy Restaurant.
