LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Joan Climes upon the occasion of her
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2013 OCIAA Scholar Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Joan Climes
upon the occasion of her recognition by the Orange County Interscholas-
tic Athletic Association as a 2013 OCIAA Scholar Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Joan Climes has distinguished
herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and maturity,
establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposefulness of
life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Joan Climes, a student at Goshen High School in Goshen, New
York, ranked Top 10 of her class and is a member of the cross country,
indoor track, and track and field teams; and
WHEREAS, She is a member of the National Honor Society, Stage Band,
World Language Honor Society, and is Class President; she plans to
attend college and major in Operations Research Engineering; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Joan Climes has
brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Joan Climes may stand with pride in her achievements, experi-
encing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she continues
her education; and
WHEREAS, Joan Climes represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Joan Climes upon the occasion of her recognition by the Orange
County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2013 OCIAA Scholar
Athlete, and to wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joan Climes.
