LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 26th Anniversary of New York
City Outward Bound Schools

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of commitment and high achievement whose
purpose and endeavors prove a dedication to the pursuit of excellence in
the education of the youth of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 26th Anniversary of New York City Outward Bound Schools; and
WHEREAS, Founded more than a quarter-century ago, New York City
Outward Bound Schools began to provide educational programming to help
students cultivate their academic capabilities, improve their self-con-
fidence, and develop their leadership skills; since then, thousands of
young people of different backgrounds have discovered their capability
to achieve more than they thought possible, individually and collective-
ly; and
WHEREAS, Every New Yorker can celebrate the anniversary of this
remarkable nonprofit organization, because it fosters academic achieve-
ment, community and character; each year, its network of public expedi-
tionary learning schools set unprecedented marks of accomplishment, and
its students experience a world of exploration and adventure that they
might have never known, preparing them for success in college and
beyond; and
WHEREAS, New York City Outward Bound Schools strengthens the State by
stressing the perseverance, teamwork, leadership, and goal-setting
required to overcome obstacles, and to discover its potential for ascen-
dancy; and
WHEREAS, The New York City Outward Bound Schools are proudly aware of
their distinguished past, eager to fulfill their present commitment to
parents, students and the community, and planning with vision and
purpose for the ebb and swell of growth and change they will encounter
in the years to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 26th Anniversary of New York City Outward Bound Schools;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to New York City Outward Bound Schools.
