LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Ellen P. Stockert upon the occa-
sion of her designation as recipient of the North Colonie Teenager
Community Award by the Colonie Elks Club

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions honoring the youth of today, and leaders of
tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify ideals and
values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body to commend and
pay tribute to those people who, by achieving outstanding success in
their educational endeavors have inspired and brought pride to our
majestic Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Ellen P. Stockert upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the North Colonie Teenager Community Award by the Colonie Elks Club;
this auspicious occasion will be celebrated at a ceremony to be held at
the Town of Colonie Town Hall on Wednesday, May 22, 2013; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Shaker High School, where she is the Secretary of
the National Honor Society, Ellen P. Stockert is active in a multitude
of extracurricular activities, including the building council and cross
country, field hockey, and indoor and outdoor track teams; and
WHEREAS, Ellen P. Stockert has also engaged in a variety of volunteer
activities, winning volunteer service awards in both her junior and
senior years; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of the University of Rochester Frederick Doug-
lass and Susan B. Anthony Award in humanities and social sciences, Ellen
P. Stockert has also captured contest prizes in poetry, writing, and
French; she won the Joseph and Elaine Quinn Foreign Language Award in
her junior year; and
WHEREAS, Among her many other activities, Ellen P. Stockert is a
member of the Town of Colonie Youth Advisory Board and has been a camp
counselor at St. Pius X Camp for Exceptional Children, as well as a
member of Engeye Teen Connection; and
WHEREAS, Ellen P. Stockert has so eminently displayed ability, talent
and maturity so rarely attained in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents a unique opportunity for this Legisla-
tive Body to commend Ellen P. Stockert upon the occasion of her
outstanding high school career and community service; and
WHEREAS, Recognizing the value of her learning experience, as well as
the fruits of her dedicated labor, Ellen P. Stockert now stands with
poise and purpose to face the challenges of new experiences; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to celebrate the individual accomplishments
of remarkable students in this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to recognize and
applaud Ellen P. Stockert for her noteworthy educational and community
endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Ellen P. Stockert upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the North Colonie Teenager Community Award by the Colonie
Elks Club; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ellen P. Stockert.
