LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Donna L. Benson upon the occasion of her
retirement as Clerk for Orange County

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have devoted
themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their community
and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Donna L. Benson upon the occasion of her retirement as Clerk for Orange
County, to be celebrated on Wednesday, June 12, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Donna Benson's effective retirement date is December 31,
2013; and
WHEREAS, Donna Benson worked in the County Clerk's Office in the
Department of Motor Vehicles from 1981-1997 in many departments and
offices, serving in various positions including: DMV Clerk, Supervisor,
Director of the four County DMV offices and Administrative Assistant to
the County Clerk; and
WHEREAS, Donna Benson has held various positions and has been involved
in many community groups, including; the Boy Scouts of America-Hudson
Valley Council Committees for Distinguished Citizens, 2006 NYS Associ-
ation of County Clerks President, Office for the Aging/RSVP Advisory
Councils, Florida Chamber of Commerce, AHRC Botanical Gardens, United
Way Board of Directors Past Chair & Secretary, American Legion Auxilia-
ry, 2004/2005 Inspire Cherish the Children Honorary Chair, and the Board
of Directors for Inspire from 2006 to the present; and
WHEREAS, Donna Benson is also a part of St. Joseph's Living Rosary
Society; she is an honorary member of the Florida Fire Company and
member of the Florida Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by all those with whom
she worked, Donna Benson will be remembered for her honesty, integrity,
keen sense of duty and ability to show a unique grasp of human problems
in her official acts; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Donna L. Benson upon the occasion of her retirement as Clerk for
Orange County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Donna L. Benson.
