LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring The Mount Sinai Medical Center upon the
occasion of winning the 2012 HIMSS Davies Enterprise Award of Excellence

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
healthcare institutions that provide quality health care to the people
of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor The
Mount Sinai Medical Center upon the occasion of winning the 2012 HIMSS
Davies Enterprise Award of Excellence
WHEREAS, The Mount Sinai Medical Center, located in New York City, is
an internationally recognized medical teaching, patient care, and
research facility; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1961, the Healthcare Information and Manage-
ment Systems Society (HIMSS) was created with the goal of transforming
healthcare through the effective use of information technology (IT) and
management systems; through the best use of IT and management systems,
HIMSS enables improved quality, improved safety, increased cost-effec-
tiveness, and increased access to care; and
WHEREAS, Each year, HIMSS awards deserving health care organizations
with the Nicholas E. Davies Enterprise Award of Excellence; the award is
named after a doctor who believed computer-based patient records were
needed to improve patient care; the winners of the HIMSS Davies Enter-
prise Award of Excellence are required to achieve the level of Stage 6
or 7 on the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model
(EMRAM) and key meaningful use milestones; The Mount Sinai Medical
Center has received the designation of a Stage 6 hospital; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to The Mount Sinai
Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor The Mount Sinai Medical Center upon the occasion of its desig-
nation as the winner of the 2012 HIMSS Davies Enterprise Award of Excel-
lence; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Mount Sinai Medical Center.
