LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Yvonne Cynthia Humphrey upon the occa-
sion of her designation for special recognition

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Yvonne Cynthia Humphrey upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition, to be celebrated on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at the 50th
Anniversary of Independence for Trinidad and Tobago event in Brooklyn,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Yvonne Cynthia Humphrey was
educated at Sacred Heart School and San Juan Secondary School; in 1963,
she emigrated to England and pursued a career in nursing; and
WHEREAS, In 1978, Ms. Humphrey migrated to the United States, where
she furthered her education and received a degree in Computer Science
and Medical Records; she worked at AT&T for 15 years in numerous depart-
ments; and
WHEREAS, Yvonne Cynthia Humphrey joined The Health Insurance Plan of
New York serving in the Health Emergency, continuing on as a Medical
Claims Examiner until retirement; in 1979, she became an active member
of St. Augustine's Church; and
WHEREAS, Yvonne Cynthia Humphrey is a member of Kings County Lions, a
group whose motto is to serve; in this community, the Lions help the
blind, give glasses to those in need, feed the hungry, provide clothes
to the local shelter, and help single parents and Providence House resi-
dents; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Yvonne Cynthia Humphrey's distin-
guished record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this
Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Yvonne Cynthia Humphrey upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Yvonne Cynthia Humphrey.
