LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Shirley Foster upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Shirley Foster has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Shirley Foster upon the occasion of her designation for special recogni-
tion, to be celebrated on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Annual Tots
and Teens In Focus Award Dinner; and
WHEREAS, A board member for Tots and Teens In Focus, Shirley Foster is
a youth inspirational leader; she also serves at the Board of Education
as a student counselor; and
WHEREAS, Shirley Foster has volunteered her services to not-for-profit
organizations and community outreach centers such as the cancer survi-
vors, children with disabilities, and the Epilepsy Center; in addition,
she had also volunteered her services as a board member of Hawthorne
Corners Day Care Center, and was a past board member of Camba after
school program; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Nicholas, and
their children April, Jason and Demander, and their grandson Malachi,
all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her
achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Shirley Foster's distinguished
record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Shirley Foster upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Shirley Foster.
