LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Davidzon Radio upon the occasion of
its 8th Anniversary

WHEREAS, The communities of which every city, town, village and hamlet
are comprised are the lifeblood of our great State of New York; though
the City of New York is one of the largest cities in the world, it too
is made up of communities which are vital to the life of the City; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that businesses
which inform and contribute to the vibrancy of those communities merit
the highest commendation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to recog-
nize and commend Davidzon Radio upon the occasion of its 8th Anniver-
sary; and
WHEREAS, Davidzon Radio is America's largest Russian radio station;
owned by Gregory Davidzon, it began broadcasting as WSNR 620-AM on
February 28, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Its programs include talk, music, entertainment, celebrity
appearances, local, national and international news, and on-air
contests; and
WHEREAS, Davidzon Radio broadcasts throughout the tri-state area, as
well as Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and on-line; and
WHEREAS, Davidzon Radio provides its listeners with a connection to
the "old country" through the news, celebrities, and analysis from the
former Soviet Union; and
WHEREAS, Davidzon Radio keeps its listeners informed about events and
news with its own reporters in New York City, Washington, D.C., San
Diego, Chicago, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Israel, Canada and various
European locations; and
WHEREAS, Davidzon Radio also provides original broadcasts from
throughout the world in its broadcast schedule and more than 500,000
listeners tune in every day; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
commend Davidzon Radio and its dedicated staff for bringing community
and entertainment news and information to the Russian-speaking community
of New York City, a city known internationally for its exceptional
special interest newspapers and other media; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Davidzon Radio upon the occasion of its 8th Anniversary, noting
with pride the significance of its professionalism, commitment to commu-
nity and many contributions to the spirit of diversity which so distin-
guishes the City and State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Davidzon Radio.
