LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Concord
Pools and Spas

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
small businesses greatly contribute to the economic vitality of communi-
ties across New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 40th Anniversary of Concord Pools and Spas; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1972, Concord Pools and Spas has three
locations in New York, including Latham, Saratoga Springs, and Glens
Falls, and is under the luminous direction of President Mike Giovanone;
and
WHEREAS, Building pools in the Northeast climate poses many chal-
lenges; however, Concord Pools and Spas learned long ago how to handle
Mother Nature's wrath; voted 2012 Best of Saratoga Region in readers
poll, owner Michael Giovanone and Concord Pools were awarded the Eagle
of Excellence Award, the highest award bestowed upon a dealer by Latham
International; and
WHEREAS, Mike Giovanone was recently awarded the Master of Design as a
Pacific Pools Showcase Builder, the most prestigious award in the pool
industry presented for excellence in custom design and innovation by the
editors and managers of the Los Angeles-based magazine POOL & SPA NEWS,
the industry's leading publication; and
WHEREAS, In addition, SUCCESS MAGAZINE named Mike Giovanone as a Man
of Distinction, and Entrepreneur of the Month; and
WHEREAS, Pacific Pools, a division of Latham Plastics, Inc., is North
America's largest manufacturer of vinyl-liner pools, and Concord Pools
is the largest dealer in the nation of Pacific Pools; and
WHEREAS, Proving their longtime commitment to excellence, Concord
Pools and Spas has met all the standards of the rigorous certification
process; and
WHEREAS, This illustrious business has received numerous awards and
accolades, such as the coveted Poolsearch 2010 Certified Pool Builder
Award, the only independent endorsement in the swimming pool industry;
the eminent SPASEARCH magazine's Spasearch 2010 Certified Retail Store
Award, the only independent retail endorsement in the hot tub industry;
and, at the UNLV Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, Concord Pools
of Latham, New York, received the Gold Medal Design of Excellence Award
for pool construction by the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals;
and
WHEREAS, Concord Pools and Spas has established itself as a national
industry leader; it was ranked at number 3 out of the top 50 pool compa-
nies throughout the nation in POOL & SPA NEWS; it was also voted favor-
ite project by readers of the AQUA MAGAZINE design competition for swim-
ming pool and spa dealers; and
WHEREAS, The AQUA MAGAZINE 100 Hall of Fame recognized Concord Pools
and Spas to have consistently demonstrated the highest levels of profes-
sionalism and creativity in customer service, workmanship, store design,
promotions, advertising, and product knowledge; and
WHEREAS, Named to the Top 100 Hall of Fame for five consecutive years,
Concord Pools and Spas received the Master of Innovation Award by LUXURY
POOLS MAGAZINE for the seamless patterned concrete deck design that acts
as the perfect foil for the sparkling blue of the water; the design
included landscape lighting incorporated in the natural stone wall,
hidden in-floor radiant heat system; and

WHEREAS, Small business owners exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit
which has fueled our State and Nation since their founding; and
WHEREAS, Milestones which recognize small businesses help to enhance
the free enterprise system upon which our Nation was built; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses exert a strong positive influence on our
communities, and the future welfare of New York State depends on the
continued success of these companies; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Concord Pools and Spas; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Concord Pools and Spas.
