LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kevin Yu, Angel Ding and Joslyn Thomas
upon the occasion of obtaining key positions at the NYSSMA All State
Conference

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the dedi-
cation and commitment of our young people who distinguish themselves
through excellence in musical competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kevin Yu, Angel Ding and Joslyn Thomas upon the occasion of obtaining
key positions at the NYSSMA All State Conference; and
WHEREAS, These Herricks High School musicians rose to the occasion at
the 2012 NYSSMA All State Conference from November 29 - December 2, 2012
in Rochester, New York; and
WHEREAS, A senior, Kevin Yu was selected as concertmaster of the All
State String Orchestra; this is a great honor that recognizes him as a
top violinist in New York State; and
WHEREAS, A junior, Angel Ding was named 4th chair violin in the All
State Symphony Orchestra, also a very high achievement; and
WHEREAS, Joslyn Thomas, also a junior, was in the Mixed Chorus and
will be representing her district at the Eastern Division Festival that
will take place in this spring in Hartford; and
WHEREAS, These hard working musicians rehearsed over several hours per
day under the tutelage of world-renowned conductors culminating in a
spectacular concert at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, New York; and
WHEREAS, Music competition provides an opportunity for students to
exhibit their practical skills to an audience, thereby giving them a
sense of pride in their hard work and efforts; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Yu, Angel Ding and Joslyn Thomas exemplify the best
potential which is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth;
they have brought enduring honor to their family and their community
through her many achievements; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kevin Yu, Angel Ding and Joslyn Thomas upon the occasion of
obtaining key positions at the NYSSMA All State Conference; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kevin Yu, Angel Ding and Joslyn Thomas.
