LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Nick Tighe, Wrestler of the Year
for the State of New York, and recipient of the Dave Schultz High School
Excellence Award

WHEREAS, Nick Tighe, through his diligence and rigorous efforts, has
been named the 2013 New York State Wrestler of the Year by the National
Wrestling Coaches Association; and
WHEREAS, A senior at John C. Birdlebough High School in Phoenix, New
York, Nick Tighe will also receive the Dave Schultz High School Excel-
lence Award from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater,
Oklahoma; and
WHEREAS, Nick Tighe is one of only 49 high school seniors to be
awarded the Schultz Award, which is based on excellence in wrestling,
scholastic achievement, citizenship and community service; and
WHEREAS, Nick Tighe is a three-time New York State wrestling champion,
and won the 138-pound wrestling title in February 2013, where he was
voted Most Outstanding Wrestler of the state tournament for Division II;
and
WHEREAS, This outstanding athlete finished his senior year with a
record of 51-3, with 38 pins, and career numbers of 228-22, with 134
pins; and
WHEREAS, Nick Tighe will continue his wrestling career as a freshman
at Binghamton University; and
WHEREAS, His perseverance in rising through the ranks of high school
wrestlers is a strong indication of his ability to master difficult
tasks; his accomplishments will enable him to emerge as a leader, fully
equipped to meet the challenges of today's complex society; and
WHEREAS, Nick Tighe is a credit to his family, his school, his commu-
nity, his State and his Nation, and no doubt his future will be filled
with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to
congratulate and honor Nick Tighe, Wrestler of the Year for the State of
New York, and recipient of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence
Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Nick Tighe.
